BEND, Ore. – The Castleton women's Nordic ski team continues to compete with some of the top programs in the country, finishing seventh for the second straight day as it participated in the freestyle sprint Wednesday at the 2017 USCSA National Championships at the Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center.
Megan Greene once again led the Spartans, finishing in 20th place after completing the one-kilometer sprint in 4:27.4, just ahead of teammate Emily Cromie in 26th place in 4:37.8. Adrienne Toof completed the course in 5:11.9 to finish in 39th place, followed by Carley Patch in 42nd place in 5:25.4 and Hahnah Saroff in 43rd place in 5:34.2.
Castleton collected 85 points to finish in seventh place, just behind Colorado Mesa and Cornell with 72 points apiece and Oregon State-Cascades with 74 points but ahead of Michigan with 94 points. Clarkson finished first with 15 points, just ahead of second place St. Olaf with 20 points.
After a day off, the USCSA Nordic National Championships will resume Friday, March 10, with the 15-kilometer event. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Pacific time.
