Women’s Nordic Ski in Fifth After Day One of Clarkson Invite

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Castleton University women's Nordic ski team is in fifth place after Saturday's action at the Clarkson Invitational held at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.

Adrienne Toof was Castleton's top finisher in the 15-kilometer skiathlon, ending up in 15th place with a time of 1:09:12, less than three minutes outside the top 10. Castleton's next two finishers posted similar times, as Emily Cromie finished in 18th place in 1:10:50, just ahead of Hahnah Saroff in 19th place with a time of 1:11:39.

Carley Patch posted a mark of 1:16:17, finishing in 29th place in the individual standings. Just as they did last weekend at the Castleton Invitational, Sarah Duclos and Ana Witkowski of Clarkson finished at the top of the standings, with Duclos winning in a time of 58:19, followed by Witkowski in 59:18, the only two competitors to complete the course in less than one hour.

Castleton ended the day in fifth place with 52 points, just one point behind fourth place McGill University. Clarkson leads the team standings with 11 points, just ahead of second place Vermont with 15 points, while Cornell sits in third place with 38 points.

The second and final day of the Clarkson Invitational is scheduled to take place Sunday, Jan. 29, starting at 10 a.m.
