CASTLETON, Vt. – Freshman goaltender Alexis Kalm of the Castleton women's hockey team has been named to the New England Hockey Conference All-Rookie team, as announced Thursday morning by the league office.
In nine conference starts this season, Kalm posted a .923 save percentage and a 1.99 goals-against average to go with her 3-4-2 record. She played an integral role in the Spartans' run down the stretch of the regular season, notching back-to-back shutout victories over NEHC opponents. Over her last six starts, Kalm has recorded a .937 save percentage and a 1.80 goals against average while helping the team to a home game in the NEHC quarterfinals.
With 362 saves overall on the season, Kalm has played her way to a 3-7-3 record with a .916 save percentage and a 2.55 goals against average.
Holy Cross's Kara Violette was named the NEHC's Player of the Year, while Franklin Pierce goaltender Shannon O'Neil was tabbed as the Goaltender of the Year. Amanda Conway, of Norwich, was the league's unanimous Rookie of the Year, and Kerstin Mathews from Saint Anselm was honored as the Coach of the Year. To view the full NEHC release, click here.
Kalm and the Spartans will host the University of New England at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the NEHC quarterfinals at Spartan Arena.
