PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Castleton University softball freshman ace Kylie Wright was named the Little East Conference Softball Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 28.
Wright was 2-1 on the week with a save and made an appearance in all four games for the Spartans in the circle in a 3-1 week. She allowed just five earned runs over 19.2 innings of work for an ERA of 1.78. She also logged 68.6% of all innings pitched by the Spartan staff on the week.
Wright was victorious in a complete-game effort against Middlebury before recording the final three outs of an 11-10 victory in game two for her team-leading second save of the campaign. Then, she scattered eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in a 3-1 win at UMass Boston in another complete-game performance. She pitched 4.2 innings of four-hit relief in the second game but took the loss after surrendering a pair of unearned runs.
On the season, Wright is 9-8 with a 3.43 ERA. In 104.0 innings of work, she has struck out 46 against 26 walks. She is fourth in the conference with 12 complete games and third with two saves.
Castleton will finish its season on Tuesday with a home doubleheader versus Rhode Island College. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3 p.m.
