Men's Cross Country Competes in James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Castleton University men's cross country team competed in the eight-kilometer James Earley Invitational held at Stanley Park Saturday afternoon.

Junior Gannon McKearin led the Spartans as he finished the race in 11th place out of 206 runners. McKearin finished with a time of 26:34.64 (5:20 mile time) which is a season best. 

Senior Jared Wheeler also finished the race well as he completed the race in 33rd place with a time of 27:21.57 (5:30 mile time). 

Rounding out the scoring for the Spartans was Levi Williams (121st – 29:42.75), Dylan Lupien (149th – 30:50.43), Brandon Ryan (152nd – 30:57.90), and Oliver Rodgers (153rd – 30:59.94).  

Trinity took home the team title with a score of 15 points. Westfield State (106 points), Springfield (133 points), Plymouth State (185 points), and Norwich (226 points) rounded out the top-five in team scoring.

Men's cross country will return to action on Saturday, October 19 as it competes in the Western New England Invitational in Springfield Massachusetts. The men's race is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
