DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Castleton University men's cross country team competed at the eight-kilometer UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning.
Junior Gannon McKearin led the team as he finished in 52nd place out of 257 runners from all three NCAA divisions with a time of 26:54.15. McKearin beat his time from this meet a season ago by shaving off 23 seconds.
Following closely behind McKearin, senior Jared Wheeler finished in 73rd place with at time of 27:27.72. Wheeler also improved his time from a season ago as he knocked off three seconds.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute took home the team title with a score of 61 points. UMass Lowell (83 points), Trinity (88 points), Franklin Pierce (115 points), and Southern Maine (146 points) rounded out the top-five in team scoring.
Men's cross country will return to action on Friday, September 27 as it competes in the Vermont State Meet. The event will be hosted by Castleton University and the men's race is slated to begin at 5:15 p.m.
