Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at Cardinal Classic

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- The Castleton men's cross country team traveled to Plattsburgh, N.Y. this morning to partake in the Cardinal Classic. The team took third place as two runners placed in the top 20.

Junior Gannon McKearin paced the way for the Spartans as he finished the five-kilometer race in 10th place with a time of 16:59.0 (5:28 mile pace). 

Senior Jared Wheeler finished 19th with a time of 17:37.8 (5:41 mile pace). Senior Levi Williams finished right behind Wheeler in 22nd place with a time of 18:05.3 (5:50 mile pace).

Rounding out the scoring for the Spartans was Dylan Lupien (31st – 19:38.6), Oliver Rodgers (35th - 20:56.6), Joe Ouimet (38th - 22:37.9), Jacob Peet (39th - 23:14.5), and Chris Wentzel (42nd – 25:00.0) 

St. Lawrence took home first place as seven of its runners finished in the top 10. Castleton totaled 80 points.

The Spartans will return to action next Saturday, September 7 when they host the Castleton Invitational, with the men's race set to begin at 11:45 a.m.
