Strong Outings for Men’s Cross Country at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Castleton University men's cross country team competed at the eight-kilometer UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Gannon McKearin battled the crowded field of 295 and finished 82nd with his season-best time of 27:17.21 to lead the Castleton fleet.

Fellow sophomore Jared Wheeler closely followed him, turning out a personal-best 27:30.8 to place 97th. 

Levi Williams (170th - 29:17.49), Avery Barrino (189th – 29:44.02) and Oliver Rodgers (212th – 30:51.75) rounded out the scoring for the Spartans.

Southern New Hampshire University took the team title with 74 points. They were followed by Worcester Polytechnic Institute (87 points), American International University (108 points), Franklin Pierce (183) and Trinity (194) in the top-five in team scoring.

Castleton will have a week off before they will compete at the Vermont State Meet on Sept. 29.
