McKearin led all runners with a 27:49 time. Wheeler narrowly achieved the mark with a time of 27:59. The duo finished fourth and fifth in the event in 2017, respectively. Both runners shaved over half of a minute off of their time from a year ago.
Southern Vermont College, despite having runners place second and third, trailed the Spartans by 29 points in the team standings and finished second. Castleton finished with 27 points, SUNY Canton had 62 points, and Green Mountain College (77) rounded out the team scoring. MCLA, SUNY Adirondack, and New England College also had runners compete, although did not have the minimum requirement (five) to be eligible for the team scoring.
The Spartans will return to action on Saturday when they travel to North Dartmouth, Massachusetts for the U-Mass Dartmouth Invitational.
