Men's Cross Country Takes Fifth Place at NAC Championship

BANGOR, Maine – The Castleton men's cross country team finished fifth place with a team score of 99 at the North Atlantic Conference Championship today hosted by Husson.

Grandon Smith finished second-overall in the event, posting a time of 27:26 to pace the Spartans. Ben Girard also finished in the top 10 for Castleton, finishing in 10th place with a time of 28:14.

Lyndon St. won their fourth consecutive title, finishing with a team score of 46 while placing five runners in the top 15. Colby-Sawyer took second place, posting a team total of 78, while UMaine-Farmington (84) and New England College (91) also finished in front of Castleton.

Smith took the top spot on his team for the seventh time this season, with Girard finishing second for the fourth time this season. Jonah Lavigne placed 13th overall with a time of 28:32, while Alex Lauzon (29:38) and Patrick Gilligan (30:21) rounded out the top five for the Spartans.

Other Castleton runners were Jake Looman (33:37), Kyle Rainville (34:12), Max Murphy (34:18), Thomas Cuddy (36:22), Tom Rizza (38:08), and Stevie Bartenstein (40:35).

The Spartans are back in action next weekend when they travel to the ECAC Championship. Race time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
