Men's Cross Country Finishes 4th at Husson Invitational

BANGOR, Maine – The Castleton men's cross country team grabbed a fourth-place finish in their season-opening meet at the Husson Invitational on Saturday.

Grandon Smith was the Spartans' top runner, placing fifth overall with a time of 28:46. Jonah Lavigne was the next Castleton runner to cross the finish line, coming across with a time of 30:30.

New England College took home first place in the event, followed by University of Maine-Farmington and University of Maine-Presque Isle.

Benjamin Girard came across the line third for the Spartans, finishing at a time of 30:42, followed by Alex Lauzon, with a time of 31:11. Patrick Gilligan rounded out the top five for the Spartans, crossing the line with a time of 31:51.

Other runners for Castleton included Jake Looman (35:29), Kyle Rainville (37:09), Tom Rizza (39:41), and Thomas Cuddy (40:06).

The Spartans will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 12, when they host the Castleton Invitational. Race time is scheduled for 11:45 a.m.
