HOOKSETT, N.H. – The Castleton University men's track & field team competed at the Second Annual Penmen Relays hosted by Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday.
The Spartans placed 22nd out of 23 teams in attendance at the event with two points.
Nate Gilcris earned both points with a seventh-place finish in the high jump. He earned the fourth-highest jump but placed seventh because of misses. He achieved a height of 1.83 meters (6'0").
Michael McKoy beat his personal-best in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. He was 18th in the short race in 11.65 seconds and 21st in the half-lap with a time of 23.79 seconds. Also in the 100-meter dash, Laurence Romain placed 12.41 seconds and Joseph Ouimet was 47th in 12.50 seconds. Ouimet was also 49th in the 200-meter dash in 25.04 seconds while Roman was 34th in the long jump with a distance of 5.28 meters (17'4").
Dakota Garrow made his debut in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and clocked in with a time of 12:22.69, good for 16th-place.
Clayton Bailey earned a 16th-place finish in the javelin out of 51 competitors with a throw measuring 43.98 meters (104'5"). Caleb Davidson was 22nd of 59 in the shot put (11.52 meters, 37'9.5") and 30th of 61 in the discus with a heave of 31.83 meters (104'5").
After a week off, Castleton is scheduled to return to action with qualified athletes at the Little East Conference Championships hosted by Fitchburg State on April 27.
