MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Nate Gilcris set the school record and won the high jump to lead the Castleton men's outdoor track and field team as it opened its season at the Wesleyan University Spring Classic on Saturday.
Gilcris cleared a height of 1.90 meters (6'2.75") to top the field of five in his collegiate debut. He also qualified for the NCAA Division III New England Regionals with the performance. Israel Dudley held the previous school record of 1.83 meters in 2016.
Clayton Bailey won the javelin with a throw of 43.09 meters (141'4") to beat out 13 competitors. Tayler Larmie finished fourth of 14 in the hammer throw with a toss of 39.68 meters (130'2"). Caleb Davidson was 12thin the shot put at 10.43 meters (34'2.75").
Michael McKoy finished sixth out of 15 in the 200-meter dash in 23.90 seconds. The freshman was also 10th in the 100-meter dash in 11.88 seconds, and sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.66 meters (18'7").
Dakota Garrow earned a fourth-place finish in the field of 15 in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.74. He was also 14th in the 1500-meter run (4:52.83 seconds).
Joseph Ouimet placed 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.06 seconds and eighth in the 400-meter dash in 57.37 seconds. He also participated in the pole vault and achieved a height of 3.20 meters (10'6").
