MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Ryan Barry set the school record in the 60-meter dash to lead the Castleton men's indoor track & field team at the Middlebury Winterfell on Saturday.
Barry placed fourth in the sprint's final with a record-breaking time of 7.28 seconds after qualifying with a 7.33 run in the preliminaries. Barry previously held the record with a time of 7.30 seconds. The senior was also seventh in the 200-meter dash in 23.90 seconds.
Taylor Larmie's heave of 14.03 meters (46'0.5") in the weight throw was good for second place while Morgan Rainville led the throwing effort in the shot put with a sixth-place finish and a throw of 12.28 meters (40'3.5"). Caleb Davidson was fifth in the weight throw (11.30 meters, 37'1") and seventh in the field of 14 in the shot put (11.57 meters, 37'11.5").
Defending his Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie of the Week performance last week, Dakota Garrow was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 57.21 and eighth in the long jump with a distance of 4.97 meters (16'3.75").
In the pole vault, Joseph Ouimet cleared a height of 3.20 meters (10'6") to top his career-best by six inches. He placed fifth in the event. Also in the pole vault, Ryan Boeke finished seventh with a height of 3.05 meters (10'0").
The Spartans will return to Middlebury for the third consecutive weekend at the Middlebury Invitational running two days next weekend (Jan. 25-26). The meet will commence on Friday at 2 p.m. before continuing on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
