Garrow Sets School 500-Meter Record for Men's Indoor Track and Field at Middlebury Winter Classic

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Dakota Garrow set the school record in the 500-meter run for the Castleton men's indoor track and field team at the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday.

Garrow finished third in the event with a time of 1:16.16. The previous record (1:20.22) was held by Sebastien Crowell. The sophomore also competed in the 800-meter run, placing eighth in 2:28.89 as well as fourth in the pole vault at 2.60 meters (8'6.25").

Ryan Boeke and Joseph Ouimet tied atop the list of four competitors in the pole vault, both clearing a height of 3.05 meters (10'0").

Morgan Rainville placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 12.94 meters (42'5"), where Tayler Larmie finished 10th at a distance of 11.81 meters (38'9"). Larmie was also second out of 14 competitors in the weight throw with a distance of 13.94 meters (45'9"), just .01 meters shy of his own school record.

Ryan Barry led the team in the sprints after finishing eighth in the 200-meter dash in 24.15 seconds and 10th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.49 seconds. Rudy Ryan was 14th in the 60-meter dash in 7.77 seconds while Ouimet followed close behind in 15th (7.84 seconds) in the field of 21.

The Spartans will return to Middlebury College for the Middlebury Winterfell on Saturday, Jan. 19 with the meet set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
