Beauregard, Stearns Highlight Spartans in Track and Field Regionals

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. / SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Austin Beauregard and Ally Stearns highlighted the Castleton men's and women's track and field teams in the New England Division III Championships on Saturday at Middlebury and Springfield, respectively.

On the men's side, Beauregard concluded his indoor season with an impressive performance at the Virtue Field House in Middlebury. Beauregard set a new personal best and school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.80 seconds to place 16th overall out of 34 qualifiers in the race.

Stearns featured the women's squad in Springfield with a launch of 14.35 meters in the weight throw, tying her own personal best and program record. After posting a 14.28-meter heave on her third throw, Stearns sent her 14.35-meter throw on her fifth opportunity to place eighth overall out of 24 competitors.

The quartet of Christiana Carmichael, Carlie Reen, Lydia Maier, and Haley Kennedy competed in the 4x200 relay and edged the previous school record (1:56.86) with a time of 1:56.38 to place 19th overall. 

The Spartans will begin to prepare for their outdoor seasons, which are set to kick off March 24 at the Wesleyan Spring Classic.
