Beauregard Qualifies for New England Regionals at Middlebury Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Austin Beauregard punched his ticket to the New England Division III Championships in the 60-meter hurdles to showcase the Castleton men's track and field team on Saturday at the Middlebury Invitational.

Beauregard highlighted the Spartans on the afternoon, qualifying for New Englands in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.96 seconds. After clocking in at 9.09 seconds in the preliminary, Beauregard improved his time to place fifth overall in the finals. The junior also paced the Spartans in the long jump with a 12th-place distance of 5.52 meters.

Ryan Barry posted a strong finish in the 60-meter dash, crossing the line in 7.32 seconds to place seventh in the finals. Canute Watson placed 22nd with a time of 7.82 seconds, just ahead of Caleb Lisai, who checked in at 7.88 seconds to place 25th.

Tayler Larmie led the Spartans in the field events with a pair of top-10 finishes. The junior claimed 10th place overall in the shot put with a heave of 12.35 meters, just ahead of Morgan Rainville's 14th-place toss of 12.08 meters. Brodie Talbot and Clayton Bailey finished back-to-back with respective distances of 11.79 and 11.62 meters. Larmie brought home an eighth-place finish in the weight throw to lead Castleton with a top throw of 13.78 meters.

Chris Doucet paced Castleton in the high jump after reaching a height of 1.63 meters to place 12th overall. Doucet was also the top Spartan finisher in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.20 meters to place 14th.

Castleton will return to action on Friday, Feb. 9, for the David Hemery Invitational at Boston University.
