Men's Track and Field Competes in NAC Championship on Sunday

CASTLETON, Vt. - The Castleton men's track and field team will compete in the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Sunday at Colby-Sawyer.

Castleton, Colby-Sawyer, UMaine-Farmington, Green Mountain, Husson, Johnson State, and Lyndon will all compete for the title at the Sally Shaw Track and Field Facility and Mercer Field.

Grandon Smith has enjoyed a stellar outdoor season with two program records in three meets. After qualifying for the New England Division III Championships in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.99 at the Springfield College Classic, Smith is seeded No. 1 in the NAC Championship. The junior is also seeded 10th in the 5000-meter run.

Austin Beauregard leads Castleton in the hurdles, highlighted by his top seed in the 110-meter hurdles with his season-best time of 17.17 seconds. He is also seeded fifth in the 400-meter hurdles for the Spartans. Antonio Nassivera earned an 11th seed in the high jump.

Ryan Barry has been the top Spartan sprinter this season, leading the way in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in each of the three meets on the season. He is seeded second in both events behind only Colby-Sawyer's Rasheed Foster. Nick Reca is seeded 10th in the 100-meter dash, while Matt Clark is No. 7 in the 200-meter dash. Clark and Robert Novobilsky are also seeded fifth and eighth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash.

The Spartan throwers have been strong all season, as Tayler Larmie and Morgan Rainville lead Castleton in three different events. Larmie is seeded second in the hammer throw, third in the shot put, and fifth overall in the discus. Rainville is No. 4 in both the shot put and discus, while earning a sixth seed in the hammer throw. Matt Ocker is ranked No. 7 in the hammer, while Jack Schilder and Clayton Bailey are seeded second and fourth, respectively, in the javelin throw.
