CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton men's tennis team has been picked second in the annual North Atlantic Conference East Division preseason coaches' poll, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning.
The Spartans land the No. 2 position after finishing as the conference runners-up in 2016 with an overall record of 11-4 and a conference record of 4-2.
The Spartans received 42 points in the poll, which is voted on by each of the seven coaches in the league.
Colby-Sawyer was unanimously voted as the favorites, garnering all seven first-place votes en route to the top spot with 49 points. Thomas was chosen third overall, with 32 points, while MCLA landed the No. 4 spot with 31 points.
Green Mountain (16) and Lyndon (16) tied for 5th, while Johnson St. rounded out the poll with 10 points in seventh place.
Castleton is off to a 2-0 start this season, already picking up wins over Norwich and Lyndon. The team is in action on Saturday against Green Mountain at 1 p.m. at the Gran Slam Tennis Center.
