WATERVILLE, Maine – Coming off a stellar week that featured five points in three matches, freshman Seraphin Iradukunda of the Castleton men's soccer team has been named North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Iradukunda opened the week with a two-goal performance in a win over SUNY Poly, including the game-winner in a 3-1 victory. The freshman staked Castleton with an early 2-0 lead after scoring a rebound-goal in the seventh minute of the contest. He followed that up with his second goal of the match with just 51 seconds remaining in the first half, piercing the defensive unit through the center of the field and capitalizing on a 1-on-1 opportunity with the goalkeeper to give the Spartans a 3-1 advantage at the half. Iradukunda also tallied an assist on the Spartans' lone goal in a loss to Potsdam.
The freshman leads the team with five points on two goals and one assist through the team's first five matches. To view the full NAC weekly awards release, click here.
