LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Devin Perry posted his best finish at the USCSA National Championships, leading the Castleton University men's Nordic ski team Friday at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.
In the 15-kilometer Classic event, Perry landed in 14th place with a time of 54:20.90, his first top-15 finish in two years of competing at the national championships. Perry ended up just eight seconds behind the 12th place finisher.
David Harvey ended up in 33rd place with a time of 59:12.30, with Jared Wheeler posting a time of 1:03:58.90 to finish in 44th place. Keegan Cummings finished in 47th place in 1:09:06.10, followed by Devin VanBockler in 49th place in 1:14:44.70 and Thomas Rizza in 51st place in 1:17:33.30.
As a team, Castleton finished in eighth place in the event with 81 points, ahead of Cornell, Michigan, and Stanford. Western State of Colorado earned the team title with 24 points, just ahead of St. Olaf College with 30 points and Colorado Mesa with 31 points. Tyler Radtke of St. Olaf College topped the individual standings with a time of 50:28.40.
The 2018 USCSA Nordic National Championships conclude Saturday, March 10, with the freestyle team sprint, starting at 10 a.m.
