BEND, Ore. – After a day off, the Castleton University men's Nordic ski team returned to the snow Friday, finishing in ninth place as a team in the 15-kilometer freestyle event of the 2017 USCSA National Championships held at the Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center.
Devin Perry was Castleton's top finisher for the third consecutive event, posting a time of 47:22.9 to finish in 26th place. David Harvey completed the course in 49:49.9 to end up in 32nd place, while Thomas Rizza finished in 43rd place with a time of 58:50.7 and Keegan Cummings posted a time of 1:03:54.0 to earn a 47th place finish.
Castleton accumulated 108 points to finish in ninth place in the event as a team. With three skiers among the top five finishers, Wyoming finished first with 10 points, followed by Western State Colorado with 24 points.
The 2017 USCSA Nordic National Championships conclude Saturday, March 11, with the classic team sprint. The men's competition is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Pacific time (12 noon Eastern time).
