Castleton Men’s Nordic Sprints to Seventh in Wednesday Action

BEND, Ore. –  Thanks to two top-30 performances, the Castleton University men's Nordic ski team finished in seventh place in the freestyle sprint event held Wednesday at the 2017 USCSA National Championships at the Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center.

Devin Perry finished in 17th place after posting a time of 3:33.0, while David Harvey landed in 30th place with a mark of 3:46.2. Thomas Rizza was the next Castleton skier in the standings, finishing in 47th place after completing the event in 4:38.9, and Keegan Cummings finished in 49th place with a time of 4:49.5.

In the team standings, Castleton finished seventh in the event with 95 points, ahead of both Michigan and Cornell. For the second straight day, Wyoming led the way, collecting 16 points, while Western State Colorado finished second with 28 points.

After a day off, the USCSA Nordic National Championships will resume Friday, March 10, with the 15-kilometer event. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Pacific time.
