CRAFTSBURY, Vt. – Another strong performance by freshman Devin Perry highlighted the first day of the Sterling Invitational for the Castleton University men's Nordic ski team as it competed at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center.
In the 7.5-kilometer classic event, Perry finished in third place overall with a time of 25:17.7, 42 seconds behind race winner Charlie Maitland of Clarkson, but only seven seconds slower than second place finisher Thomas Clayton of the University of Vermont.
David Harvey picked up another top-20 finish, crossing the finish line in 20th place with a time of 27:58.0. Keegan Cummings finished in 38th place with a time of 35:02.2, and Thomas Rizza ended up in 40th place with a mark of 36:55.1.
For the second consecutive week, Castleton and the other teams will be competing in a relay on the second day of the invitational, as competition resumes at the Sterling Invitational Sunday, Feb. 5.
