Wiswell Scores Two Late Goals to Give Men's Hockey 3-1 Win Over King's

RUTLAND, Vt. – Glenn Wiswell scored twice in the third period as the Castleton men's hockey team defeated King's College, 3-1, to advance to the WSYB/Catamount Radio Invitational championship game.

Castleton (1-5-3) will battle Brockport (6-1-1) on Saturday at 4 p.m. in a rematch from the final a year ago when Castleton earned the upper hand. The golden Eagles bested Anna Maria, 5-1, in the opening game of the tournament.

Anna Maria and King's will compete for third place at 1 p.m. at Spartan Arena.

Luke Cohen made a spot-start in net for the Spartans and made 22 saves to earn his first win in his collegiate debut. Brandon Daigle stopped 43 shots for King's (0-9-0).

Jason Bilski got the scoring going at 8:18 of the first period when he forced a turnover in near-proximity to the Monarch goal before pushing a shot through Daigle.

After 20:33 of scoreless play, King's netted the equalizer when Jamie Lukas scored with an assist from Michael Dischiavi.

Wiswell's first goal came at 14:05 of the closing period after Dan Fitzgerald's shot resulted in a rebound in the slot. Nick Gravina picked up the first of his two assists on the evening on the goal.

Then, Wiswell scored the insurance goal for Castleton at 17:20 with assists from Gravina and Asa Palker.

The game was played in a brisk 2:06 as just three minor penalties were assessed. Castleton finished 0-for-2 on the power play, while King's was unsuccessful in its only opportunity with the man-advantage.
