Bart Moran Signs Professional Contract with Icelandic Hockey League

CASTLETON, Vt. – Castleton University men's hockey recent graduate Bart Moran will continue his playing career on the ice, as he has signed a professional contract with the Skautafelag Akureyrar of the Icelandic Hockey League.

Moran joins several former Spartans in continuing his playing career professionally. Moran will travel overseas to Europe, where he will be introduced to a new lifestyle and culture both on and off the ice. The Icelandic Hockey League features seven teams located throughout Iceland with its season starting in September and carrying over to March of the following year.

"Bart was a great player and person for us and I am happy he will be continuing his playing career overseas. We try to develop our guys every year they are here so they can step into the professional game and be impact players," said second-year head coach Bill Silengo.

Moran capped off his stellar Spartan career with career highs in goals (10) and points (17) during his senior season. The co-captains's eight power-play goals were tied for third-highest in all of Division III and third-most in a single season by a Spartan. Over his four-year career, Moran racked up 51 points on 26 goals and 25 assists, and his 103 games played are tied for third all-time in Castleton program history.
