Castleton Men's Hockey Honors Local Military Members on Friday

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton men's hockey team will host its 10th annual Armed Forces Appreciation Night on Friday night at Spartan Arena.

The Spartans host in-state opponent Saint Michael's College in a New England Hockey Conference matchup at 7 p.m., with a first-intermission ceremony in which the team will present a $1,000 gift to the Dodge House. The Dodge House, located in Rutland, is transitional housing for veterans who find themselves homeless. They offer substance-abuse free housing and provide a safe place where veterans can rebuild their lives.

The Dodge House's goal is to provide veterans who are homeless with a specific program tailored to meet their needs and goals mutually agreed upon by the veteran, staff, and a referral source.

All veterans and active-duty military will receive free admission to the contest, and will receive special seating and recognition during the game. The Vermont National Guard will present the colors in a ceremony prior to the game.
