WATERVILLE, Maine – The Castleton University men's golf team finished fourth Sunday at the North Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Thomas College at Waterville Country Club.
The Spartans shot a two-day team total of 630 to claim fourth place for the second consecutive season. It marked the final NAC event for the Spartans, as they will move to the Little East Conference starting in 2020. SUNY Delhi topped the conference by shooting 600, with Husson finishing second (612) and Thomas finishing third (618).
Jacob Erwin shot a final-round 75 to finish in a tie for second place at +7 for the tournament after a first-round 72. His performance was enough to earn First Team All-NAC accolades, the first time a Spartan has reached that mark since Zach Temple in 2016. Nicholas Ojala finished tied for seventh with a two-round total of 152. He shot consecutive rounds of 76 to earn Second Team All-NAC honors.
Husson's Gavin Dugas claimed the individual title after firing the low round of the tournament Sunday, carding a two-under 68. Teammate Chris Kauppila was the low rookie at 150 (5th place), while SUNY Delhi's Daniel Christy shot 73-74 (147) to tie for second.
Complete All-Conference honors will be released Wednesday, October 16.
