MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Castleton University men's golf team is in action for its second tournament of the week, competing at the annual Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury. The Spartans currently sit in 19th place out of 22 teams after the first day of competition.
As a team Castleton shot 323, with Jacob Erwin once again leading the way with a 75 to sit tied for 26th individually. Nicholas Ojala sits second on the team after the first round with a score of 78, while Jordan Ayer carded a score of 81 in the opening round. Tripp Norris (89) and Caleb Fizer (91) rounded out the Spartans' starting five.
New York University leads the team scoring with a total of 291, while Williams College and Johnson and Wales round out the top three. Williams' Sam Goldenring leads all individuals after registering a round of 69 on Saturday.
The tournament concludes at Middlebury's Ralph Mhyre Golf Course with tee times beginning on Sunday morning.
