Men's Golf Tied for Seventh After Day One at ECAC Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Castleton men's golf team sits in seventh place overall after one day of action at the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Championship at Ravenwood Golf Club.

The Spartans posted a team total of 314 to tie with Penn. St.-Behrend and Hobart, just nine strokes behind sixth-place Clarkson as a team. New York University leads the tournament with a team score of 296, while Rutgers-Camden and Rensselaer are in second and third place, respectively.

Zach Temple shot a team-best 75 (+3) on the day, putting him tied for 15th overall—five shots off the tournament lead. Jordan Ayer posted his best round of the year on Saturday, shooting a 79 (+7) to place second on the squad. Luke Salerno and Jacob Erwin rounded out the scoring for the team, each shooting rounds of 80 (+8).

St. John Fisher's Karl Deuble shot the low round of the day, recording a two-under score of 70. Three others finished the day at one under par.

The Spartans tee off again Sunday morning beginning at 7:30.
