JAY, Vt. – The Castleton men's golf team finished in third place on Saturday at the Lou Jarvis Memorial Invitational hosted by Johnson St. at Jay Peak Resort Golf Course.
The Spartans shot 351 as a team, nine strokes behind second-place Norwich. SUNY Cobleskill took home the top spot, shooting 330 as a team. Green Mountain and Johnson St. rounded out the tournament in fourth and fifth place, respectively, at the 6,500 yard, par 72 course.
Luke Salerno was the top golfer for Castleton on the day, shooting an 81 overall to finish in third place. Zach Temple finished tied for eighth place with an 88, while Jon Benson finished tied for 12th with a score of 90. Jacob Erwin rounded out the scoring for the Spartans shooting a round of 92 on the day.
Cobleskill's Ian Wilson led all golfers on the day with a round of 76, while Norwich's Mike Moschella finished in second with a round of 80.
Castleton returns to action on October 1 at the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Regional at Ravenwood Golf Course in Rochester, N.Y.
