Men's Golf Goes North to Lou Jarvis Memorial Invitational

CASTLETON, Vt. – Tomorrow afternoon, the Castleton men's golf team heads north to the Jay Peak Resort Golf Course to compete in the Lou Jarvis Memorial Invitational hosted by Johnson St.

Jay Peak is a par-72 course that can play upwards of 6,800 yards depending on tee placements. At the last meet hosted by the Badgers, Castleton came out on top as it won the season-opening meet at Rocky Ridge Golf Course by nine strokes as a team. Last time out, Castleton finished 20th at the 33rd Annual Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury's Ralph Mhyre Golf Course.

Zach Temple has been the top golfer for the Spartans this year, shooting a +1 score of 72 on day two of the Duke Nelson Invitational. Luke Salerno has been a solid number two player for Castleton, posting back-to-back 82's last week although he looks to improve on those numbers. Salerno's lowest round of the year came at the Middlebury Fall Classic when he shot a day-one score of 76.

Jon Benson, Jacob Erwin and Jordan Ayer have all been in the mix for the Spartans, as a combination of two of the three golfers has scored each week. Benson was the top player on day one for Castleton last week, posting a score of 80, while Erwin played his way to NAC Rookie of the Week honors for his finish at the season-opening meet.
