Spartans Finish 5th at Middlebury Fall Classic

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Castleton men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Middlebury Fall Classic this weekend played at the Lake Placid Club Links Course.

Castleton held its position from day one, shooting a second-day score of 333 after shooting 320 on the first day of competition.

Zach Temple was the top overall finisher for Castleton, placing tied for 17th after a second-day score of 86 and a two-day score of 161. Luke Salerno posted a day-two score of 86 as well to finish tied for 19th overall with a two-day score of 162.

Jacob Erwin shot a team-leading 79 on day two to finish at 164 overall, tied for 24th. Jordan Ayer posted a score of 82 to finish at 26th overall with a two-day total of 166.

Middlebury was the top team in the tournament, shooting a two-day total of 602 and placing three golfers in the top-five. Skidmore and Rensselaer finished second and third, respectively, while New York University and Clarkson finished on each side of the Spartans to round out the tournament.

Castleton is back on the course on next weekend at the Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury Golf Course.
