CASTLETON, Vt. – After helping their team to a first-place finish at Thursday's Johnson St. Invitational, Castleton golfers Zach Temple and Jacob Erwin have North Atlantic Conference Golfer and Co-Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Temple started the season off on a strong note, leading Castleton to victory with a top-finish of one-over-par, 73, at the Johnson St. Invitational. The senior went three-over on the front nine, but then went two-under par on the back to win the tournament by five strokes.
Erwin got his career off to a strong start, as he recorded a top-10 finish tying for seventh overall at the Johnson State Invitational in his first event. Erwin posted an 81 overall (+9), shooting a front-nine score of 40 and a back-nine score of 41.
Castleton got off to a strong start, winning the Johnson State Invitational with a team score of 317. Temple led all golfers with a +1 score of 73, while Salerno finished tied for second with a 78. Castleton is back on the links this Saturday at the Middlebury/Lake Placid Club Invitational.
