Field Hockey Announces 2017 Team Captains

CASTLETON, Vt. – Sarah Wells and Rachel Holland have been named Castleton University field hockey team captains for the 2017 season.

Wells is coming off a strong sophomore season in which she collected 20 points on eight goals and four assists. She tallied a season-high five points against Wells College with two goals and an assist. In a 3-2 win over New England College on senior night, Wells delivered the game-winning goal. Over her first two years at Castleton, Wells has amassed 42 points on 16 goals and 10 assists.

Holland started all 18 games last season for the Spartans, posting a career-high 13 points on five goals and three assists. She recorded a season-high three points on a goal and an assist in a key 4-2 win over North Atlantic Conference foe UMaine-Farmington. Holland enters her senior year with 26 total points on nine goals and eight assists to go with three defensive saves.

When asked about the appointment of the team captains, Head Coach Jessica Kischko said, "We are thrilled to have these two veteran leaders as our captains for the upcoming season, especially with it being our last season in the NAC, we are excited for the possibilities."
