MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Two Castleton University football players were honored by the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Monday afternoon, as Devin Wollner was named the league's Rookie of the Week while Ethan Palazzetti was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Wollner had a big week on the road for Castleton, breaking out for 141 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown. He averaged 7.0 yards per carry with a 31-yard run, and his touchdown in the first quarter made it a 10-7 game as Castleton got itself on the board against UNE.
Palazzetti had a big day himself Saturday at UNE, racking up nine tackles from the defensive backfield in addition to an interception and a forced fumble. The sophomore was Castleton's leading tackler, finishing with five solo tackles and four assists. His forced fumble was recovered by the Spartans and led to a Castleton touchdown that made the score 31-21.
Castleton returns to action Saturday at 3 p.m. against in-state rival Norwich in the annual Maple Sap Bucket Game at Dave Wolk Stadium.
