Benham Earns NAC Player of the Week Honors

WATERVILLE, Maine – After posting another strong week offensively to lead the Castleton baseball team to three more victories, Dillon Benham has been named North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Benham batted an impressive .538 (7-for-13) with two doubles, a triple, a home run, three runs scored, and seven RBI to go with a .571 on-base percentage and 1.077 slugging percentage to help the Spartans secure first place in the conference.

Benham opened the week with a 3-for-4 performance with five RBI against NEC. He was just a double shy of the cycle as he belted a go-ahead RBI triple in the fourth inning and smashed a three-run home run in the sixth to help the team erase a five-run deficit and cap the comeback victory.

In a doubleheader at Lyndon on Friday, he recorded two more multi-hit games with back-to-back two-hit contests. The junior tallied two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored as he now leads the team with 16 extra base hits on the season.

This is the second NAC Player of the Week honor for Benham this season. In 22 league contests, Benham is batting .355 with a .468 on-base percentage, eight doubles, two home runs, and 18 RBI. To read the full NAC weekly awards release, click here.
