CASTLETON, Vt. – Today junior Zach Bahan and senior Nick Swim were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I Team for their work on the field and in the classroom.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their excellence on the field and in the classroom. The District Teams are divided into eight geographic locations and further delineated by Division I, II & III. Bahan and Swim were the only players from the NAC recognized on the team of 12. Castleton, WPI and MIT were the only schools to have multiple players on the District 1 Team.
Swim has had an impressive senior season with the Spartans en route to winning the NAC Player of the Year award. He leads the NAC with a .426 batting average, 63 hits, 49 runs scored, 15 doubles, 44 RBI, 91 total bases, and a .615 slugging percentage. Impressively, his scored runs rank him 16th in the nation, while his hits, batting average, and RBI rank him 26th, 42nd, and 44th in all of Division III. He has also swiped 12 bases, drew 15 walks and belted two triples. Off the field Swim is a Business major with a 3.44 GPA.
Bahan was a NAC First-Team All-Conference selection for the first time in 2016. The junior recorded 11 doubles to go along with three home runs, 32 RBIs, 27 runs scored and a .341 average. Off the field, Bahan is a Criminal Justice major with a 3.43 GPA and has been named to the Dean's List twice.
