CASTLETON, Vt. – After helping the Spartans extend their winning streak to nine games this past week, senior Nick Swim was selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week as well as being named the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) and Corvias ECAC Division III Player of the Week.
Swim pushed his hitting streak to 16 games, as the Spartans improved to 17-9 overall with a 5-0 mark on the week. The senior shortstop hit .667 (14-for-21) with four doubles, one grand slam, 16 RBIs and nine runs scored. He also posted a 1.000 slugging and .667 on-base percentage with two walks, one sacrifice fly and two stolen bases. On the season, Swim is leading the NAC in batting average (.423), hits (44) and RBIs (30) to go along with 13 extra-base hits, two home runs, eight stolen bases and 32 runs scored.
Yesterday, Swim was named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season and fourth time in his career.
The Spartans have a busy week ahead of them, facing Norwich and NEC on back-to-back days before hosting Husson for a four-game, NAC set at Spartan Field this weekend.
