Castleton University Athletics is excited to announce a department wide partnership with Thomas Dairy. Beginning this season, Thomas Dairy will donate 1 pint containers of chocolate milk to the Spartans for every home contest.
“Our student-athletes are thrilled to be receiving Thomas chocolate milk,” said Associate Dean for Athletics and Recreation Deanna Tyson. “It’s used as a recovery fuel that restores carbohydrates and protein quickly into their muscle tissue to get them ready for their next competition.”
Recent studies point to chocolate milk the catch-all recovery drink for athletes, as it is higher in carbohydrate and protein content than regular milk, water, and popular sports drinks. Chocolate milk is also water-based, thus replenishes fluids lost during exercise, and is rich in calcium and healthy fats athletes need to recover and refuel their bodies after exercise.
“This is a tremendous benefit for our student-athletes that commit to hours of strength and conditioning,” said Tyson.
